In the vein of that site with photos of the US during the Depression, and outlying Soviet areas, which I suddenly can’t find, I suppose… seeing color photos instead of black and white goes some way to make it seem more real to me, for whatever reason.
“an interior shot of what may have been a church or castle” reminds me of a shot of the National Library at Sarajevo. Buildings still fall in the same ways, I guess.
